Saudi Oger ltd. under Topography Services â€“ 4983
The Company is a very well known in the construction business and rated as one of the best company in the Middle East, for me and for most of us here, we have no questions or comments for this company as it carry out appropriate policies and procedures stated by labor laws. However, this good reputation of the esteem company is being tarnished by some unscrupulous, uneducated (mal-educated), corrupt and racist managers. They manipulate everything for their own greediness sake. And one of these is the manager of the Topography Service 4983. Read on.
Topography â€“ 4983 since 2007 up to Present
The Department is very compulsive on work schedules at a hectic time frame. As you may all know, the company has 2 salary-based system. The Overtime and the Bonus system. As for this department Topography â€“ 4983 the working hours is 11 hours and sometimes beyond, but will not credit the 3 hours overtime and will only charge the 8 hours working time and submit the report to the Head Office. And during holidays the new department manager will force all the employees under Bonus system to work during holidays and promising them that they will be paid in double but in the later part when receiving the salary no holidays charged as overtime were reflected on the employees payslip working under the Bonus system.
The new manager himself is also as sadistic type of person who loves to humiliate, discriminate, and impose sanctions that are beyond labor law standards which is almost unethical in every aspects of his working rules, he is like a dictator who treats his employees like slaves. If the employee is late for 15 minutes he will cut 2 hours of his time without any consideration of that 3 hours unpaid overtime on his credit. He always rush to the employee to give a certain job order and running around the office like he is on a football field. The said person also conducts meeting beyond office hours usually takes place during Lunch time at 12:00 and doesnâ€™t care if the employee misses his lunch and if the employee will complain the only reply you will hear is â€œitâ€™s your faultâ€ and sometimes he will also do this after 6:30pm which is the time off of the so called department standard working hours and calls for a meeting without a proper protocol and during this time which is beyond office hours the meeting will end up to 8:00pm in the evening and during that time the mess hall is almost closed which the employee will end up not having his dinner, and spending his salary without Overtime pay on the cafeteria, as for the manager will only say â€œ I Donâ€™t Careâ€. The manager doesnâ€™t know how to listen to his employeesâ€™ complain and incompetent type of personality and talks more by not giving the employee a chance to explain his side which is very unfair, usually lies on his employees and even giving an instructions on his fellow technicians to lie on the office Employees promising them those same words to convince the employees but in the end employee will get nothing out of his Overtime under Bonus system, also the said manager is being too controlling, too suspicious, too pushy, too critical, but he forgets that employees are not fixed assets, they are free agents and that almost every work order is noted as â€œUrgentâ€ pushing the personnel to speed up the work for his own merit, as the manager himself doesnâ€™t care about his employees sometimes offering a word saying that if the employee has problems he will help like (e,g. Room, salary, and other personal problems & etc.) but overall the manager will only rely on his secretary and no action at all on his part as a manager, unlike the previous manager which won the heart of his employees with a fair treatment and effective actions, gaining and winning a high morale on his part and working on his employees without problems at all in which this new manager doesnâ€™t have any of this traits.
Obviously, this manager did not take a degree in college for he doesnâ€™t possess even a single character of a good manager. He doesnâ€™t have an etiquette, he always keep on yelling to impose his superiority in the office. He doesnâ€™t know anything about business ethics and proper office procedures. The competent outcome of most of the projects and other tasks are all from his subordinatesâ€™ (mostly Filipinos) efforts. And yet he take all of the credits and leave the employees with promises.
Please pass this to people who want to work in Saudi Oger Ltd. Especially in the field of or profession in Surveying and CAD, we have no comment about the company as it has a good reputation regarding benefits, privileges and lastly the salary rate, but only to this Department Topography â€“ 4983, which so uncomfortable to work with and will only end up on the employees dreams and ambitions in a nightmare. Beware of this Department or suffer the same fate as we are currently enduring.
But if you have an offer in Saudi Oger Ltd. in other department, go on. Other department has an educated managers but I am afraid theyâ€™re seldom under PPCD (Private Project Construction Division). We happen to know all the going onâ€™s in other department because we mingle with Kababayans and have a little chitchat about everything. We donâ€™t have a choice for now but to endure this until we finish our contract or for others case, until such time they find a new offer from other companies.
We as overseas workers working far away from their families should be treated as human being not as machines for they will not have the heart and soul in the job. They must be fairly treated and paid as per labor laws, giving us confidence to work in harmony in a far places as a necessity to provide and sustain their family on their home country, as for that confidence they may become consistent and effective in their jobs and will not give problems to their managers, if the company doesnâ€™t want to waste on their sponsorship visas for recruitment and be able to maintain a long term employees should this said manager be thought a real lesson on how human beings work.
The manager is the reason people stay and thrive in an organization. But in this Departmentâ€™s case, he is the reason why people leave. A lot of our colleagues (Filipinos, Indians, Pakistan), have left without finishing their contracts. Others (I for one) will just waiting to finish the one year contract. He doesnâ€™t realize that when people leave they take knowledge, experience with them, and straight to the competition.
"PEOPLE LEAVE MANAGERS NOT COMPANIESâ€ due to some of the managers have no knowledge or expertise for being a manager. This type of managers need some trainings/seminars in managerial, psychological and need concrete knowledge of their field.
