Discover The 4 Steps To “Success In Business”…

by T. WATSON on NOVEMBER 25, 2012

Some folks believe that SUCCESS is reserved for but a chosen few. I on the other hand believe it’s for EVERYONE.

This doesn’t mean that success is guaranteed simply because you yearn for it. You do after all “have to earn it”.

It also doesn’t come in a “one size fits all” garment. Rather it comes in many different shapes and sizes that are directly linked to the amount of effort you exert. This makes success ”unique” for each of us.

The key to achieving it comes down to the planning and execution of the 4 essential building blocks. Tackle those and you put yourself on the fast-track to living your dream life. Ready? Here we go…

The Four Steps To Success In Business

1 – Setting Goals. The setting of goals is one of the driving forces behind obtaining success. Think of it this way… If you have nothing to shoot for, how could you possibly measure your progress? In a nutshell you can’t.

Goals normally fall into 2 main categories, which are short-term and long-term. Short-term goals are usually ones that can be reached within 6 months or less while long-term can be anything longer than that time frame.

The key here is for you to write down WHAT THEY ARE. Only you can do that! The best part is this is not a terribly hard task to complete. Just go grab a pen and paper and list them.

After that you just need to place them in the short-term or long-term category. From there simply break them down into smaller bite sized chunks that you can place on your to-do list.

2 – Make A Plan. You already have your goals set, so that gives you a framework from which to craft a working plan to achieve those goals. This does not need to be a time-consuming endeavor.

Simply take the smaller bite sized tasks you created at the tail end of the goal setting process and start putting them into a logical order on your to-do list. This to-do list will be your guide going forward.

Do your best to think it through, but don’t get too bogged down in details. You will have time later on to tinker and adjust the plan you created as you start working on it later on in the next step.

3 – Get To Work. This is the where the “rubber meets the road” as the old saying goes. In essence you’ll be taking the plan you just created in step 2 and breathing life into it.

Start at the top of your to-do list and work your way through it. You may need to tinker with the plan along the way as roadblocks may appear out of the blue.

This may or may not result in you having to do some tasks “out of the original order”. If that is the case just roll with it and come back later to the task you had to skip for one reason or another.

4 – Stick To It. Your efforts will yield results when you stick to the plan and chip away each day. This approach is a winner as it builds momentum that propels you forward.

Sadly though this is the part where the wheels fall off for far too many newcomers as they lose their will to make it work. This is why above all you really need to do your best to keep your feet moving.

When you start to lose your momentum failure creeps into your thought process. This in turn results in negative thoughts and actions that start the process of sabotaging all the work you have invested to date.

My Brief Summery On The Process

What I would suggest is waking up everyday and getting at least one thing done towards your goal. What many folks struggle with is the ENORMITY of the task.

They see starting a business as similar to climbing Mount Everest when in fact it’s nothing like that. The process is just a bunch of small steps done in a row.

So the goal for you is to look at success differently. Just small steps each day get you closer to what you want! If you follow this approach, you will build momentum. Once you have that, you gain even more!

Imagine a boulder at the top of a hill. If you give it a push, it starts to move, SLOWLY AT FIRST, but by the time it gets to the bottom it’s at full speed. You my friend NEED TO BE THAT BOULDER!

Hey everyone

I'm moving to Singapore on the Australian Working Holiday visa for 6 months. Just some advice needed, Has anyone on this visa had any luck obtaining any of form of work? I have a business degree and half way through a law degree with experience in Engineering and SEO. To be honest although it would be nice to be working professional, but I'm not that fussed I just need a job to pay the bills doing anything. Is it easy to get any job there?

Cheers,
