A dramatic overhaul of the iOS system, the Apple iOS 5 will bring a number of key features to Apple’s mobile device users with twitter integration to land alongside improvements the service’s mail functionality and bringing new tools, such as rule of third grid lines, to devices’ cameras.

Apple iOS 5 features include:

Jailbreak Only: Jailbreaking iOS 5 Can Cause A Quarter Screen Issue - But It Can Be Fixed

If you’re running of iOS 5 even official release from Apple (or even the Gold Master version, which is technically available for non-developers) and have jailbroken your iPhone handset, you may have run into the issue displayed in the above image.

Basically, a jailbreak app called “Activator” can cause applications to display in a quarter of the iPhone’s screen in iOS 5. Fortunately, a fix has been discovered.

According to iDownloadBlog, here’s how you can correct the issue:

Step 1: Open SBSettings
Step 2: Tap “Power”, and select “Safe Mode”
Step 3: Once booted into safe mode, tap the status bar when it says “Safe Mode”. This will bring up a prompt; tap “Restart” to restart into normal mode
Step 4: Launch an offending app, and the issue should be resolved

As of now there is no Untethered Jailbreak available, In case you face this kind of problem when running an IOS 5 jailbreak,
just follow the instructions mention above.

You can use Gevey Turbo SIM... hindi mo na kailangan i-jailbreak ang iPhone 4 mo... but you need to do the "tricks" everytime na nag-shutdown ang mobile mo at start-up mo ulit...

@Shonnayy;

Pwede bang malaman ang modem Firmware ng Iphone 3G mo?

@Sir joshua_sx1;

Yes you can use Gevey Turbo SIM, it will work but there is some problem sometime with Gevey Turbo SIM,

Sometime Problem with Gevey Turbo SIM, yung Signal ng Iphone nawawala, need to restart and dial 112 for 5 sec. then saka babalit ulit ang signal.

Pero kung walang kung Modem Firmware mo hindi available ang unlock, yun na ang last option mo to use Gevey Turbo SIM, antay antay ka nalang kung kailan mag release ng baseband unlock para sa modem version na gamit mo.

iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Exploit Found

iPhone Jailbreaker @pod2g has discovered an exploit on iOS 5 firmware that can be used to bring untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4 and older iOS 5 supported devices . Currently iOS 5 can be jailbroken tethered using Redsn0w . As you may already know that tethered jailbreak requires you to connect with the computer and run “just boot tethered” to reboot your device once it’s turned off . Untethered version has no such steps to follow and you can use your device just like you did before jailbreak which makes it convenient for jailbreak users and hence a preferred jailbreak .

Hack unlocks secret iPhone panorama camera mode

Developer and hacker conradev has uncovered a hidden panorama mode in the iOS Camera app. By changing a key value in the iOS SDK, a Panorama mode is unlocked in the Camera app that lets iPhone users capture a panorama image by snapping photos continually from left to right.

While it’s unclear as to why this feature is hidden in iOS, it can only be assumed that Apple will eventually release it to the public in due time.

Famous jailbreak developer chpwn also posted images of the Panorama mode enabled on what is presumably his iPhone 4S. The interface looks like it needs some work.

Here is an example of a panoramic photo taken on the iPhone, click for the full image (the original resolution is 6122 x 2852):

Update: chpwn has announced that he’s submitted a jailbreak tweak in Cydia called “Firebreak” that will enable this panorama feature on jailbroken iDevices.

Your iPhone’s camera can do something you didn’t know it can do: shoot panorama photos! This secret feature was uncovered by hacker and software developer conradev, reports iDownload Blog. He did so by tinkering with the iOS SDK, which unlocked the world-grabbing feature. Once enabled, the shooting mode allows users to shoot continuously from left to right.

After conradev revealed his finding, a number of other iOS jailbreakers have confirmed the hack. And renowned jailbreak developer chpwn has released a new version of his iPhone jailbreak in Cydia, called “Firebreaker,” that will automatically enable the panorama mode for those who use this jailbreak.
While this is the first time we’ve heard about this hidden feature, it certainly won’t be the last. We expect Apple has embedded this feature for testing, and plans to release it at some point in the future.

They are definitely panoramic pictures. But they lack the Apple polish, which is why we weren’t meant to see this feature just yet. Still, it’s interesting to catch a glimpse of what Apple has up its sleeve.

It seems like Apple has hidden a lot of features on iOS 5 which are not activated by default . iPhone Dev Team has found options to enable these feature by accessing internal system files . Earlier we have published how you can activate Auto-Correct and Panorama feature on iOS 5 enabled iPhone 4 . Below we have explained how you can enable Facetime on iPhone 4 using 3G instead of WiFi .

Steps to Activate Facetime on 3G on iPhone 4 iOS 5 :

First jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 5
Install File Manager app named iFile available on Cydia
Now using iFile navigate to the following location /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
Now open the file named N90AP.plist
Below the following lines <key>capabilities</key> <dict> write down <key>3Gvenice</key> <true/>
Close and save the file . Make sure you leave no spaced between the codes .
Your device is now ready to make FaceTime calls over 3G . Try it and let us know how it worked for you . This tweak needs a jailbroken phone . AlliPhone 4 Jailbreak Tutorials here including iOS 5and iOS 5.0.1 .

After the modification: Don't forget to Re-Spring your IPhone.

iOS 5 Jailbreak: iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS ‘Can Be Unlocked Without Any Jailbreak’

A strange bug on iOS 5 has apparently been found by Michael Capozzi (via Chronic) that allows the carrier unlock of the AT&T version of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS without any software or hardware tweaking.

The unlock reportedly allows you to use your iPhone on the T-Mobile's network with Edge data speeds in the U.S. as long as you have a T-Mobile SIM card.

To get started, you will need to cut the T-Mobile SIM card so that it fits into the Micro-SIM card slot in the iPhone 4S.

Many people claimed they have exploited this bug and have successfully unlock their AT&T iPhone 4S for use with the T-Mobile carrier while others said that it's not working for them, Gizmodo reported.

Although the method appears to work, it has not been tested by the tech experts at the IBTimes. If you want to unlock your device on the iOS 5 firmware by exploiting the bug, follow the directions below:

1. Insert original carrier AT&T SIM card
2. Dial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
3. Turn on Airplane Mode
4. Take out AT&T SIM card
5. Insert T-Mobile SIM card
6. Make sure WiFi is off (also tap on 'Forget this Network" to make sure it doesn't connect automatically later)
7. Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
8. Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
9. EDGE network will activate automatically - notice the 'E' on the top left corner of the screen
10. Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
11. Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
12. When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
13. Eject SIM card
14. Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
15. Insert SIM card
16. Unlocked!
